Civil marriage remains a difficult discipline: often the town hall is dark, everything is timed and you often come across another wedding. Lausanne is not my favorite city, although I lived there for many years. During the scouting, I went to look around the town hall to see if there was a little patch of greenery. Bingo, just above it, close to the cathedral, there's a slightly hidden courtyard that looks like it belongs to a museum. I rush to reception to ask if access might be available on the day. They were very helpful and lent me the key for the photo session with the bride and groom.
A relaxed, humorous ceremony. They'd forgotten all about me.
Group photos in front of City Hall, with the next wedding already ready to go. I headed for my little terrace near the museum, where the light was very harsh and the shadows very strong. Not easy to stay creative in such bright conditions.
